SWEET WHISPERS
I never cease to marvel at how intimately the Lord is aware of us and how eager He is to help us. One morning in my prayers I made particular mention of my desire to be inspired by the Holy Ghost to, among other things, be of help to those around me. I was working in my library office at Sunset Ridge Middle School when a teacher, whose class is housed in the library because of overcrowding, came into the office to use the paper cutter. As we were conversing, a thought popped into my mind unbidden or without forethought. My reaction to this thought was, that’s nice. But it came again and so I vocalized it to her. I told her how much I enjoyed watching her teach and that I thought she was an excellent teacher. Her class uses the computer lab in the library and each day I observe her interact with her students. She said that meant a lot to her. She indicated that she was struggling this week because she had a trio of parents who had called to let her know their children hated being in her class. I found that concept baffling and patently groundless. She is an amazing teacher and engages the students every single day with wit, competence, and an abiding even keel to which her students always respond. Every day her students come bouncing into class happy and eager to be there. I could tell that she had been buoyed by what I’d said. The most amazing thing about the entire situation was that the Lord knew what she was feeling and used me to voice what I believe He was feeling about her. As I said, I never cease to marvel at anything the Lord does.
