SPRINKLE A LITTLE SUGAR
Sprinkle a little sugar on her pumpkin pie
Let her snooze just a little bit more
Don’t finish what she starts to say
And don’t tell her how to drive, for sure
Try each day to make her laugh
Be grateful that she’s your best friend
Enjoy each day you have with her
And pray that it will never end
Don’t push an issue when she’s said her piece
On weekend mornings make her toast
Don’t spread the jam on too thick
For thin is how she likes it most
Enjoy the simple moments of life
So much of life we see the same
Call her to see the sun rise or set
When rays of light the skies enflame
Run errands for her in times of need
Be patient and kind when she’s in pain
Be grateful for all the pies she bakes
Comfort her when life’s a strain
Never dare to corner her cubs
Or you’ll back away with a little less fur
But you wouldn’t have it any other way
It’s just another reason to love her
You watch her worry herself sick
Over those that she has borne
Even when they turn their backs on her
And give her greater cause to mourn
And still she’d give her life for them
To make theirs the lesser load
To make life easier for them
To make theirs the smoother road
Is it any wonder then
Why I’ve come to love her so
For had she not come into my life
So many joys I’d never know
For my sweet Jo
