NO TRUMPETS BLAZING
No trumpets blazing
No crimson carpet spread
No heraldry to greet Him
No palace for the cradle bed
Though a star gave light to a few
He was born in the dark of night
He drew first breath near ewe and lamb
But for most men there was no sight
For here a miracle was wrought
The Son of God come to earth
Trailing glory born of God
Promising to all a second birth
To each of us comes the dark of night
When courage deserts the faithful heart
When all seems lost and fear ascends
And from peace we seem so far apart
This is the reason He came to earth
His message to us so clear
The Son of God was born for us
For in Him there is no fear
Then, angels proclaimed His mortal birth
And wise men were drawn from afar
Now, His light shines in the darkness
Far brighter than any star
The Son of Almighty God
Walked among us full of love
Seeking joy for all mankind
Beckoning us to a home above
For God so loved the world
That He sent His only begotten Son
The Son so loved the world
That victory over sin and death He won
But when He comes again
It won’t be in the quiet of night
His descent will be from heaven above
For all to witness His power and might
Their King they will acknowledge
With tongue and bended knee
His message then, as it’s always been,
Is from sin He’s come to set us free
To heal our broken hearts
To wipe away our tears
To redeem us from our fallen lives
To save us from our fears
He is the risen Lord
The only one Satan could not break
He rose with healing in His wings
And beckons us to partake
I wrote This poem for a Christmas card.
